What type of craftiness are you up to now?

Well hellloooo! It is nearly the end of the school year (yay!!), and therefore, nearly the end of my time at work. Have I mentioned that I am SO looking forward to being a stay-at-home mum again next year? I foresee quite a bit more crafting in my future in 2014 and that can only be a good thing. I have missed having regular creative play in my life. It is so fundamental to my wellbeing, health and happiness. I really do crave creativity. I'm not necessarily a master of any particular artsy or craftsy pursuit - I guess I'm more of a dabbler at this point. That is fine by me! It may change down the track when my kids are older and I have a bit more time to devote to developing my artistic skills, but for now I'm happy as long as I'm making SOMETHING. Anyone else out there know what I mean??

Right now I'm inspired by stitching and fabric. While I think that I prefer handstitching over machine sewing, I am definitely into anything sewing and fabric related at the moment. There seems to be a longevity in textile items that may be lacking in papercrafts. I feel that a quilt, for example, may stand the test of time more than a mini-scrapbook. By that I mean that it may be more robust and stand more of a chance of being handed down through the generations of my family. I may be wrong, but that is where my head is at lately. I have certainly enjoyed my share of papercrafting over the years, and while I've drifted away from it of late, I may well be drawn back into it in time. I still have plenty of papercrafting supplies in my stash with which to play! *((blushing))*

Whatever crafting takes your fancy, Pinterest is sure to provide endless inspiration. Indeed hours of perfectly good crafting time can be wasted on Pinterest ogling all the prettiness! *((blushing))*

When you do eventually tear yourself away and actually pick up your crafting tools, be it needle and thread, paper and scissors, or whatever else speaks to your creative soul, you feel that intense joy that comes from actually creating something with your own hands and heart.  I can't recommend it highly enough!

So here are a few things that have made it out of my ambitious mind and into reality recently. Making them made me feel good. Giving them away made me feel even better. Oh the joy of creativity! May it continue to be a part of my life forever......starting with 2014!

A collection of presents and a card made for my cousin's adorable little bub.

Baby quilt for our neighbour's beautiful new baby boy.The fabric has a sock monkey theme. Too cute!!
